Club3D’s GTX 465 Graphics Card

I guess it’s better late than never for Club3D. The company has announced that it is now offering the GTC 465 video card from NVIDIA. The GTX 465 started turning up back in May. The Club3D card has all the features that we know from other branded GTX 465 cards. It is 3D Vision ready and supports CUDA among other things.

The GPU runs at 607MHz and the card has 352 stream processors. The shader clock runs at 1215MHz and the card supports 3-way SLI. 1024MB of graphics memory are featured and that RAM is GDDR5 running at 3206MHz.

The card uses traditional air cooling and supports DirectX 11. Like all other GTX 465 cards it is a dual slot card and uses the PCI-E 2.0 interface. The Club3D version has a mini HDMI output and is HDCP ready.

3D HDMI Cable

Certain products herald the arrival of The Future. Think about the first time you saw someone using a laptop on an airplane. The first time youbought a song over the Internet. And the first flat-screen TV you saw: after decades of promises, a TV you could hang on a wall. It was like having a World’s Fair in your living room.

The flat-screen TV was a stunning change from its predecessors. And once it had been shrunken to mere inches thick, what else was there to do to it? Plenty, as it turns out.

Now if you are shopping for a television, you have new features to consider, like 3-D and LED-lit liquid-crystal displays.
Many television manufacturers – including LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Vizio – are already delivering 3-D-capable models. Cablesson have released a 3d hdmi cable to go with sony led tv. Three-dimensional imaging has come a long way since the films of the 1950s – think “Avatar” rather than “Creature From the Black Lagoon” – but you still need glasses to enjoy the technology.

Shoppers should expect to pay around $250 more for 3-D than for a comparably equipped 2-D television. Most sets come with one or two pairs of goggles; additional ones may cost more than $100 each.

Is this a cool gift for someone? Yes, it will probably be the first 3-D TV on the block. But bear in mind that 3-D programming is extremely limited, for now. (Sky and Virgin have announced a 3-D channel for the World Cup, which opens Friday, but check if your cable or satellite provider will be carrying it.) This year, the Discovery Channel hopes to introduce a 3-D channel in collaboration with IMAX and Sony, and Panasonic and DirecTV plan 3-D satellite channels.

Mac Mini with HDMI

HDMI for mac mini

Apple has updated the little desktop Mac Mini, and if you were thinking about buying a new MacBook or iMac, you might think a little about grabbing this instead.

The new Mini comes in a slim unibody case, 1.4-inches tall, shrinking from 2 inches, and gains an SD-card slot, an HDMI port for true media-center integration, faster NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics hardware (up from the old 9400M graphics). It also keeps FireWire 800, Mini-DVI Mini DisplayPort (and an HDMI to DVI Adapter in the box), four USB ports and Ethernet.

There are two models. One costs $700 and comes with a 2.4-GHz processor, 2 GB RAM and a 320-GB hard drive. The other is $1,000 and drops the optical drive in favor of 4 GB RAM, two 500-GB hard drives and a 2.66-GHz processor. This version runs OS X Server. Both have removable bottom panel for easy access to RAM.

That Apple would release such a big update with nothing more than a short press release used to surprise us, but these days its pretty standard. With HDMI, this is clearly aimed at the home entertainment market, but it could also be a great new Mac for anyone who has an iPad already. In fact, if you already have a monitor in the house, you could buy a Mac Mini and an iPad for $1,200. That’s the same as you’d pay for the cheapest MacBook Pro.

Mac mini HDMI imminent?

Apple’s stock of the current-generation Mac mini is apparently dwindling, leading to speculation that the long-awaited HDMI update might be almost upon us.  Apple Insider has heard from multiple sources that Mac mini availability is low, with Apple themselves giving distributors no ETA on when new stock could be expected.

The Mac mini last saw an update in October 2009, with faster processors and more internal storage.  However the much-tipped connectivity update never materialised; rumors have been circulating for some time now that Apple plan to replace the Mac mini’s DVI port with an HDMI connector.

That’s in part based on prototypes spotted using NVIDIA MCP89 chipsets – the successor to the GeForce 9400M used in the 2009 machines – passing through Apple’s verification tests. It remains to be seen when – or indeed if – the Mac mini will see its refresh, but Apple Insider reckon it’s only a matter of weeks away.

Oppo’s BDP-80 Universal Player — a Simplified BDP-83?

BDP-80
Blu-ray Disc Player w/SACD & DVD-Audio

BDP80

  • Standalone Player & Digital Transport
  • 1080p Full HD, 1080p24 & Source Direct
  • Fast Loading & Response Times
  • SACD & DVD-Audio/Video
  • USB 2.0 for Media Playback
  • 1GB Memory & BD-Live

Overview
The BDP-80 is a full-featured universal Blu-ray Disc™ player that supports BD Profile 2.0 (BD-Live and BonusView), DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD (SACD), HDCD, CD and other popular media formats such as AVCHD, MKV video files, digital photos and music. Sharing the same decoder and similarly optimized firmware as OPPO’s award-winning BDP-83, the BDP-80 features fast disc load times, quick response to user operations, and robust audio and video controls. In contrast to the BDP-83, which utilizes an onboard VRS by Anchor Bay video processor, the BDP-80 design has been optimized for use as a digital audio/video transport, emphasizing the accuracy of its digital audio/video outputs. At the same time, the BDP-80 is versatile enough to be used as a stand-alone universal Blu-ray player, thanks to its full array of output connections and audio/video decoding capabilities.

For video, the BDP-80 features an HDMI 1.3 port that supports 1080p Full HD, 1080p 24Hz, Deep Color and Source Direct modes. Component video, S-Video and Composite video connections are also available for legacy analog displays. In addition to its faithful reproduction of high-definition pictures on Blu-ray Discs, the player can up-convert DVD from standard definition up to 1080p to maximize DVD picture quality. Its “Source Direct” output mode makes the BDP-80 incredibly well suited as a digital transport to feed into an external video processor, a high-end A/V receiver or display device with built-in video processing. Unique features such as subtitle shift and vertical stretch zoom mode makes the player an ideal source component for home theaters with 2.35:1 CIH (Constant Image Height) displays.

For audio, the BDP-80 supports internal decoding and bitstream output of the latest sound formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master audio. The BDP-80 also features a configurable 7.1-channel analog output that can be set as 7.1-channel, 5.1-channel, or stereo. When playing SACD, the BDP-80 can output DSD (Direct Stream Digital) over HDMI in its native format or convert it into high-resolution PCM. For compatibility with many legacy A/V receivers and DACs, the BDP-80 also provides an optical and coaxial digital audio output.

The initial setup of the BDP-80 is a breeze with its Easy Setup Wizard and well-written manual. Setup menus on the player can be accessed without interruption to disc playback. The front and back USB 2.0 ports enable easy access to music, photo and video files. The BDP-80 comes standard with 1GB of internal storage built-in so that no additional memory card or flash drive is needed to use BD-Live and BonusView features. Featuring a front panel with brushed metallic appearance and a dimmable display, the BDP-80 fits nicely in any home theater environment, ranging from simple to high-end.

Features
Complete Media Support:
  • Blu-ray Disc – The high definition Blu-ray Disc™ format provides pristine video and audio quality for your home entertainment.
