SRS-Equipped ViewSonic HDTV Models Provide Stunning Surround Sound Over Built-in Stereo Speakers

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — SRS Labs (Nasdaq: SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio, and voice technologies, announced today the formation of a strategic relationship with ViewSonic to incorporate SRS TruSurround XT(R), which produces a remarkable surround sound experience over built-in TV stereo speakers, within all new 2009 16-inch and 24-inch flat panel LCD HDTV models starting in Q3.

“SRS is happy to have the opportunity to work with a dynamic, technology-oriented company like ViewSonic, which has recognized that whether an HDTV has a 16-inch or 65-inch screen, users desire the uncompromised immersive surround sound experience that’s possible through SRS TruSurround XT,” said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing for SRS Labs. “ViewSonic’s SRS-equipped LCD HDTVs will provide a uniquely powerful premium multimedia experience, while eliminating the hassles associated with wiring and setup of external speakers.”

SRS’ patented, feature-rich TruSurround XT solution processes multichannel content to create compelling surround sound over a television’s two built-in stereo speakers. As a result, users will sense that “phantom” speakers extend all around them to produce an amazing surround sound experience, complete with deep bass and clear definition – all without the clutter of extra wires or speakers placed around the room. When receiving mono or stereo content, SRS TruSurround XT creates an immersive 3D wall of sound that moves well past the physical width of the TV. Dialog quality is also improved as this technology lifts the spoken word above the chaos of sound effects and background music so that it’s clear and distinct.

“SRS TruSurround XT allows us to blend the stunning picture quality of our award-winning LCD HDTV lineup with the natural, high-quality SRS audio, and reward our users with a complete multimedia experience,” said Gene Ornstead, DTV, Director of Business Development for ViewSonic. “We are excited about working with SRS Labs and look forward to integrating their innovative sound solutions in more ViewSonic products across the board.”

Reaffirming SRS’ position as the de facto standard for FPTV audio, starting in Q3 all 2009 ViewSonic 16-inch and 24-inch flat panel LCD HDTVs will be equipped with SRS TruSurround XT, while additional models are expected to be announced throughout 2009. SRS-equipped ViewSonic LCD HDTVs are available today and can be purchased at consumer electronic retail locations across the U.S., China and the Asian Pacific markets.

SRS Labs is running a sweepstakes to give away three ViewSonic HDTVs featuring SRS TruSurround XT. The sweepstakes will take place July 20 – August 17, 2009. To enter for your chance to win, please visit http://www.srslabs.com/tvsweeps.
